The project “1 day Photography Workshops Sydney” is the best time and money investment if you are looking for a shortcut learning photography. Skip months and years of trial and error to achieve a level up with the photography courses by award-winning photographer Anton Gorlin.
I’ve been into landscape photography for over 10 years now. For me, the most exciting type of scenery is the ocean. I go out shooting almost every weekend and later on spend hours in photoshop, editing. Therefore, I’d like to share my passion with you and teach you a few tricks.
What you’ll learn
First of all, during the photography lessons, you’ll learn about the safety, the right camera settings for certain conditions, composition basics, the efficient workflow and photography techniques. And, of course, seascape photography specifics. Furthermore, you’ll learn about long exposures, flowing water, rock waterfalls, beach photography, wave photography, sunrise and sunset timeline and many other photography techniques. As a result, you’ll get new ideas and skills to use.
Skill Level Requirements
Sunset workshop is suitable for anyone starting from complete beginners level. It is preferred to have basic settings skills for the sunrise workshop, but this is not an absolute requirement. Let me know your level and I’ll adjust the workshop.
Fitness Level Requirements
All locations are easy-to-medium difficulty and the whole workshop and therefore we can easily adjust the whole workshop to the fitness level of the group.
What we’ll do
We will visit one of the most scenic places in Sydney for the photo shoot and enjoy the beautiful nature hence maximizing our chances for the good photos. There is a variety of locations to choose from and we’ll pick one depending on the weather and time of the day. We will wait for the light, waves, clouds, the Sun, and, consequently, produce some great shots. In addition, we could go through the photos you have captured if you have a device to copy them. Sydney photographic workshops are best at these locations, we’ll pick one:
- For sunrise:
- Maroubra Beach / Mahon Pool
- Watsons Bay
- Garie Beach
- For sunset:
- La Perouse
There are two options for this workshop:
- Sunrise workshop starts 1h before the sunrise and lasts 1h after the sunrise, making it 2 hours in total. There is nearly no one around, no noise, less buzz. Also, the sunrise is an amazing and energizing start of the day. You’ll need to be familiar with the camera’s bells and whistles and to have basic knowledge of the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to make most of this workshop because it’s harder to figure out all this stuff in the darkness. If you have zero knowledge, you can still make use of this workshop, but I recommend the sunset one.
- Sunset workshop starts 2h before sunset and lasts 1h after it, making it 3 hours in total. We will use this extra hour to get familiar with the camera and all the settings, hence getting ready for the sunset.
The exact date is to be negotiated.
What I’ll provide
Of course, if you live somewhere not too far away, I can pick you up. However, the return trip to your place is typically not offered.
What To Bring
So, here is a backpack checklist for you.
- Camera with a charged battery and a memory card
- Torch of headlamp
- Rain jacket (if weather demands)
These items are essential and, of course, you may need some extras, like the remote control.
For the “1 day photography workshops Sydney”, the group size is 4 to 6 people, which allows for the maximum tuition per person. Private sessions are also available. Please have a look at the pricing table below. Apparently, it’s cheaper to get a few buddies and order workshop as a group. Sharron – 3 March 2018
A very enjoyable morning with Anton, I learned a lot more about taking photos in low light and the composition of landscapes.
Hector – 25 February 2018
Excellent tips, experienced guy, he explains to you in your “experience level”. If you just got your camera or you have some knowledge about photography its worth it. He take us to a great spot, he explained everything, reviewed your photos and gave us really good tips, explaining since hoe to shoot, where to focus, what lines to follow (in the background), checked our photos and then, when we were almost finshed we had coffee in a local coffee shop reviewing the photos. He told us which ones were good or bad and why, how we could make it better and some tips about photoshop. I wish I had more time to spend with him doing landscape photography! Totally recommended.
Brinder – 25 February 2018
Awesome! Anton was great – really friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. He also gave good tips the day before – including a weather update. I am a beginner and I’m very glad I signed up for the course. The location was what I was looking for & as the clouds shifted we were able to change location quickly to make the most of the sunrise, clouds, rocks, waves, water or more often a combination of them. I would highly recommend going if you’re looking to get into photography.
Emily – 6 February 2018
You can expect the most expert advice and utmost attention. I was able to get amazing shots while understanding my camera in a new way. I’ve been rusty for a few years, but was able to get back into the swing easily enough with all the helpful advice. Truly breathtaking.
Carolyne – 7 January 2018
The pre-session communication, the pick up was as arranged, the actual sunrise photography session at the beautiful Maroubra beach and the after session feedback were all fantastic. Anton is very thorough to make sure you are safe before starting, he was very helpful to get me to make the most out of my camera and the session and I learned a lot. His feedback at the end was really useful, as are his takeaway tip sheets. Anton also really kindly dropped me at the train station to make sure I was allowed to get back ok. Highly recommended!

I had a blast – a private tour with Anton on a beautiful morning. Pick up was right on time – exactly on the minute, we agreed upon beforehand in our exchange. Anton is a very amicable and insightful gentleman, has a lot of good things to talk about besides photography. The location he picked was beautiful and he could even give me as a semi-pro some very useful tips on photographing seascapes.
Jane – 1 January 2018
Anton is a very knowledgeable instructor, ensured we were safe before taking photos. We caught the first light of 2018 and had a crash course of shutter speeds and aperture settings. He also showed us the different elements of the ocean to capture. Would recommend to friends!
Cindy – 1 January 2018
Just finished this morning as I wanted to catch the first light of the new year. Anton is very knowledgeable about landscape photographing and also a very thoughtful person. He would tell you everything worth catching, the light, the sky, the rock, the waves, not only simply a sunrise. He has over 10 years experience of photographing and you could learn a lot from him like how to get a perfect composition, how to set the parameters for different view with the light changes, how to keep safe during photographing, etc. I’ve learned a lot from him. Thanks and happy new year, Anton.
Damien – 24 December 2017
Hi Anton, many thanks for an informative and comprehensive session. The session was pitched at the right level and you took the time to ask the right questions. The session was not rushed and your timing due to the light and the types of pictures we were taking flowed evenly. I was able to carry away information that will be invaluable for the future. I would recommend Anton to other photographers wishing to learn a greater skill set. Anton was punctual, respectful and engaging. I will be returning for future lessons when in Sydney. Many Thanks – my family can see the difference in my photos already. Cheers Damien O’Mara
