Garie Beach Sunrise

Garie Beach is one of the top locations in the Royal National Park. The whole park is fantastic and otherworldly, and this spot just proves the point. This link shows more photos and info about Garie Beach.

The Need For Positive Photos

I wanted to make a gift to the childcare my son goes to, and all of a sudden realized I don’t have anything suitable! All my photos are either grim or dramatic or meditative or have a lot of things happening. But all of these scenarios all too complicated for kids, I reckon they need something sunny, positive, bright and easy to understand.

Where Did I Find The Location

I figured that I needed a photo shot from the top of the hill with lots of light and green and blue colours. That’s what I envisioned. A few months ago I saw some photos from the Royal National Park, which looked quite similar. So after some research on the internet, I headed out for a 50km sunrise trip. Typically, I would be upset with the absence of clouds and clear blue skies, but just not this time!

Garie Beach

It is quite a long strip of sand and offers tons of possibilities. During the low tide, there are reflections on the sand. During medium tide, the rocks get washed producing various patterns of streaming water. But all of that wasn’t exactly what I felt like. I wandered here and there along the beach, and it didn’t quite work, and so once the world turned grey from black, I set off and climbed this hill. Just head towards the southern end of the beach to the little houses. Somewhere between the houses, there is a road going uphill to the summit. It’s like 5-10 minutes and not hard at all. Super happy with the results! What do you think?
