Carved in Stone
Nature is the best artist. This becomes even more evident when you come to the land of sandstone. I never knew there was such a variety of shapes and forms possible as rock formations. They can look like waves, like rolling hills, like a piece of bacon. Sometimes there can be circles, repeating patterns, holes, and so many other things. It doesn’t look random at all. As if there is an invisible patient artist manipulating the wind and the sea to shape the rocks at will. And then you walk among these weird shapes trying to make sense of it all and compose all this into a shot. Then you stop trying to find any sense and start seeing the harmony. And this is where art is born. I mean, everything in nature is a state of art by Nature. But, in my opinion, it is much more obvious when we are talking about sandstone shapes and forms.
I have sandstone in many seascapes as it is widely spread in and around Sydney. So which photos made it to this gallery then? In most cases, those fancy rocks make framing for the sea and the clouds. These shots stay in the Ocean galleries. The photos I have here focus on the rock formations having them as the main and prominent photography subject.Â
