Ocean Storm

There’s nothing like witnessing a good storm. It can be dangerous, gloomy, and menacing. But it is also beautiful.

Ocean Storm Photography

The storm is quite a strong word. In reality, not every storm brings a sense of danger, huge waves, king tides, or other destructive elements. There are many shapes of the storm. Distant lightning, brooding heavy clouds, large waves, storm light, or even heavy rain. In fact, this weather is my favourite. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t enjoy getting soaked and cold. But I do enjoy the power of the storm, I do enjoy the occasional storm light, and the constantly changing conditions. The downside is that the equipment can get damaged. In fact, the photographer can get damaged as well. Once, I had a lightning bolt hitting my umbrella – this is how I got my superpowers. Since then, I’m a bit cautious about lightning. The only time when I typically don’t go shooting is during the heavy rain and probably during the king tide as well.

I went out many times to make this collection so that you don’t have to come out. You can have a look at the stormy photos from the comfort of your home.

Locations

I created most of these photos in and around Sydney and a bit towards Wollongolg: Clovelly, Maroubra, Coogee, Kurnell, Cronulla, Tamarama, Stanwell, Coalcliff.
