The Inner West is an urban area west of the Sydney CBD, New South Wales, Australia. The Inner West suburbs are mainly located along the southern shore of Parramatta River, reaching all the way south to the Cooks River. The most distant western suburbs lie in the Cumberland Plain.
Balmain East Suburb Profile
Balmain is one of the Inner West suburbs of Sydney. It is located just three km west of the CBD, in the local government area of the Municipality of Leichhardt. The suburb fills a Balmain peninsula right out of the Harbour, on the other side of Milson’s Point. It is surrounded by Port Jackson. The nearest neighbouring suburb is Balmain to the west.
The newly upgraded Balmain East ferry wharf provides connection to other ferry services, with ferry services to Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. Also, there are three bus services going from Balmain East. One is 442, the service from Balmain East to the Queen Victoria Building. Another one is 444, going to Campsie, and runs through Balmain, Rozelle, Leichhardt, Petersham and Campsie. And the 445, which is similar to the 444 route, but also covers the area of the Lilyfield.

The post-industrial heritage of Balmain has given a suburb a considerable attraction and charm where the simple, beautiful houses warrant high prices. However, Balmain and Balmain East still show an assorted mix of residents due to the Housing Commission units in the area. A large part of the suburb is a heritage conservation area. In 2013 a modern house designed by architect Harry Seidler was sold for $6m.Â

The house I have recently photographed in Balmain East is a wonderful big waterfront house with a private pier, several lounges, outdoor area and a pool. One of the most beautiful houses I photographed in Sydney and around it.
